3 Quick Ways to Integrate a QR Code

The QR code is slowly gaining traction as smart phone usage grows. By late fall of this year, Nielsen projections show over 150 million smartphone users in the United States alone. While the youth market, tech savvy and affluent have been actively engaging in mobile for sometime, the demographics will continue to shift over the next few years.

The benefits of mobile marketing are still fresh and uncharted at times but there are a few interesting ways you can reach out depending on your brands marketing strategy. The great thing about mobile is you can continue to leverage existing marketing platforms while adding something new and innovative to the mix — and maybe even generate a small ROI.

Online marketing will continue to benefit as SEO indexing is starting to recognize QR codes. This will be another way to increase your web traffic and optimize search engine rankings with little effort. A mobile web site built for the small screen is also necessary in keeping the user experience free of frustration as load times can be slow depending on service providers.

Below are a few quick ways to integrate the QR code:

1 - Does your brand have a strong retail presence? In store marketing has been on the rise and a QR code can easily be integrated with your current POS, poster or package design programs. This can be achieved in the form of a sticker or on the next production run — just don't forget to keep the size of the code to at least 1" x 1" for proper scanning. Lastly, if you have marketing collateral in a high traffic area this is another great place to further the effort.

2 - One wouldn't think a digital tactic such as email marketing could utilize a QR code but it's possible. Think about dropping one on an email promotion or special offer — some customers will print and scan them or maybe even directly off their desktop screen without printing.

3 - Traditional direct marketing is seeing a lift in response and a new channel to launch — adding a QR code to direct mail and pointing to a small promotional mobile web site for a multi-channel campaign is a great way to reach new and existing customers.
